Monks come from monasteries that are scattered over the lands but are veiled in mystery. They practice the form of attaining personal physical perfection that encompasses both mind and body. Monks are able to walk among the people, fully able to defend themselves or those in need, with either their bare hands or an assortment of exotic weapons. They revere law and cannot act with unlawful purposes, though some monasteries train those who are good and some those who are evil. Individually perfecting one's self in mind and body is the monk's life-long goal.
Monks are not generally the type to show off skills, but will use them, rather, to surmount challenges that pass their way. Often single minded the monk disdains personal wealth, instead seeking higher, more spiritual or difficult personal goals. The key feature of a monk is their ability to fight without weapons or armor.
Monks train long and hard to gain the wisdom they need not only to understand their place in the cosmos, and in relationship to the Gods, but also on how to focus their inner strengths, which they call Chi, to aid them in doing feats beyond the scope of most others who lack their training.
While they venerate various Deities, unlike their distant cousins, the Clerics, they have no control over undead. Rather, they have mastery of their own body.
In addition to a strong wisdom, most Monks strive to have great strength and agility through their practice of unarmed combat.
