Frequently Asked Questions About Subscriptions
Can I downgrade from a paid account to a free account or from one paid account to a lower-end paid account?
Yes.
When you downgrade, if your account does not meet the restrictions of the account type you are downgrading to, you will be asked to make the necessary preparations to your account first. The account will not be downgraded until it meets the requirements and restrictions of the account type you are downgrading to. For example, if you have an Adventure Account Subscription and want to downgrade to a Free Account, you may be asked to transfer or delete characters if there are more than two on your account.
I don't want to lose my player-owned homes or characters beyond the character slot limits of the free and lower-end accounts. What can I do?
Simply put: don't downgrade.
Let your account expire if you absolutely can not (or do not wish to) pay for additional service if you do not want to impose lower-end or free account restrictions on your account. Expired accounts are safe from deletion for a year from which they were last active unless special arrangements have been made with us to extend an inactive account's safety from deletion. Contact us for more information about account deletion.
If I downgrade from a Champion Account Subscription and have unused free quest tickets, alterations, etc., do I lose them?
Yes.
Use up any unused free quest tickets, free alterations given through you by your account subscription package (Champion Account Subscription only) before you downgrade to avoid losing them in the downgrade process.
If I purchased a quest ticket or wedding package that I didn't use yet and then downgrade to another account, do I lose it?
Yes, but it will be fully refunded.
We will refund you any unused, purchased quest tickets, wedding packages, etc. before downgrading your account. If the account you downgrade to has no restrictions on purchasing a quest ticket, wedding package, etc. again, then you may do so.
How frequently can I downgrade my account?
Once per billing cycle (month).
To help regulate account activity and prevent possible abuse, we restrict the number of times any particular account can be downgraded by once per billing cycle (once per month).
How frequently can I upgrade my account?
Whenever you want. There are no upgrade schedule restrictions.
Can I upgrade to a Champion Account to get a free quest run and then downgrade afterwards?
No.
We require Champion Account Subscribers to have had their account be at Champion Account status for at least one full billing cycle (one month) prior to collecting any free quest runs. Afterwards, you may downgrade your account, should you choose.
If I downgrade to a lower-priced account subscription in the middle of a billing cycle, do I get refunded money or credited extra time?
No.
We recommend that should you decide to downgrade, you do so near the end of your billing cycle. If you decide to downgrade, no amount of money or credit will be refunded or issued to be fair and as there is no conversion rate of credits between accounts.
How do I upgrade from one paid account type to another in the middle of a billing cycle?
We have a special upgrade form.
You can use our special upgrade form to upgrade your account subscription, even if you are in the middle of a billing cycle. Regardless of where you are in your billing cycle, there will be a standard upgrade fee involved and any existing subscriptions through PayPal will be cancelled immediately. When the remaining time on the account expires, simply renew at the rate for that account.
For example:
If you have a Commoner Account Subscription that expires in 12 days and want to upgrade to an Adventurer Account Subscription and don't want to wait until the end of the billing cycle, you can cancel your recurring PayPal subscription (if you have one) immediately and pay an upgrade fee to immediately be upgraded to an Adventurer Account Subscription. When it expires in 12 days, simply renew it at the Adventurer Account Subscription price for a regular recurring account subscription.
Or, another example:
If you have a Commoner Account Subscription that expires in 2 days and want to upgrade to a Champion's Account Subscription, you should probably cancel your PayPal subscription (if you have one) immediately and let your account expire in 2 days. When it does, simply renew it at the Champion Account Subscription price for a regular recurring account subscription. This way, you avoid any upgrade fees.
What if I want to upgrade from a free account to a paid account?
We have another special upgrade form.
Since free accounts have no billing cycle, there is no upgrade fee to upgrade from a free account to a paid account. Simply use the special upgrade form where you will be prompted for your billing preference to upgrade immediately to a paid account of your choice.
The areas built for Champion Account Subscriptions sound nice, but doesn't that give them an unfair advantage over those who don't play using a Champion account?
No.
There is nothing special about the extra, Champion-only areas other than extending the selection of areas they can hunt in, practice skills in, etc. Creatures available to hunt in these areas will be found throughout the game and won't be any more unique or have better experience or treasure than other areas throughout the game. Having a Champion Account Subscription is like paying a little more to go to a grocery store that has a wider selection and less crowding.
